We strive to reduce the environmental impact of our production

Doing our part to reduce carbon emissions

Every business, government and individual has a role to play in meeting the goals of the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. For our part, we aim to reduce energy consumption, related emissions and the overall environmental impact of our production.

Acting in line with climate science

We set our interim corporate emission reduction target of -5% tonnes CO2 by the end of the financial year 2020/21 (based on 2017/18) in line with climate science.

So far, we have achieved over 15% reduction in our scope 1 and 2 emissions and saved 16,431 tCO2e. Approximately 9% of the reduction is stemming from increased purchase of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. Other reductions in emissions are explained among others by decreased production due to the business impact of Covid-19.

Employee safety is a top priority

The physical and mental well-being of employees is a core responsibility of dormakaba. Occupational health and safety addresses not only the safe operation of machines, ergonomic workplaces or the handling of hazardous substances, but also mental health issues including stress, depression and emotional well-being. We strive to simultaneously create optimal working conditions for our employees and to ensure operational efficiencies.

Occupational Health & Safety

It is our goal that, by the end of financial year 2021/22, all dormakaba manufacturing sites will maintain an occupational health and safety management system based on the rigorous standards set forth by ISO 45001 or OHSAS 18001. 73% of our manufacturing sites have already achieved this. These sites have designated safety personnel, safety committees, regular safety training, and they collaborate with external partners to ensure that health and safety standards are integrated in existing production processes.
