Sustainability Requirements for Suppliers

At dormakaba, we are committed to working with suppliers who share our dedication to sustainability, ethical business practices, and responsible procurement in line with our Sustainability Framework. We prioritize suppliers who actively reduce their environmental impact, uphold fair labor practices, and drive economic growth through sustainable business models. At the same time, we have committed to discontinuing business relationships with those suppliers that choose not to engage with our sustainability endeavors, and providing training and development support for those who choose to engage. Our supplier selection and contractual agreements include:

Environmental Responsibility

Conservation of resources, minimizing waste and reducing emissions.

Compliance with human rights standards, fair wages, and safe working conditions.

What is expected from suppliers?

All suppliers are required to sign our Supplier Code of Conduct before entering a business relationship.

Our other sustainability requirements for you as a supplier are largely related to the type of goods or services you provide, as well as the country you are based in. These so-called high-risk suppliers must also sign a Supplementary Sustainability Agreement ensuring alignment with our sustainability standards.

We have expectations around:

  • Third-party sustainability assessments, corrective action plans and training

  • Carbon footprint data and the setting of decarbonization targets

  • Provision of information on the traceability of high-risk materials, including forestry-related goods (per the EU Deforestation Regulation) and conflict minerals

  • Confirmation of compliance with materials restrictions laws such as REACH, RoHS, and other regulatory frameworks

  • Confirmation of recycled material content in supplied goods

  • Proof of appropriate licensing for hazardous material disposal

Benefits of EcoVadis

Ecovadis Infographic

We undergo EcoVadis assessments annually to meet customer expectations and have earned a Gold rating, placing us in the 98th percentile of the most sustainable companies. We expect our selected suppliers to undergo such an assessment. To date, 779 of our suppliers have joined our sustainability engagement program.

An EcoVadis assessment offers several key benefits:

  • Credibility & Transparency: It provides a third party evaluation of your sustainability efforts, boosting trust with customers and partners.

  • Market Access: Many major companies require an EcoVadis rating — having one can unlock new business opportunities.

  • Performance Improvement: Detailed feedback and benchmarks help you enhance your sustainability practices and operations.

  • Risk Management: It identifies Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) - related risks, helping you mitigate potential impacts to your reputation and business.

  • Regulatory Alignment: EcoVadis supports compliance with international standards and regulations such as Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and due diligence laws.

  • Employee Engagement: A clear sustainability goal can improve morale and attract talent who value responsible employers.

  • Competitive Advantage: A strong score helps you stand out in tenders and supplier evaluations.

As seen from the graphic above, many of our suppliers have significantly improved their ratings by the second assessment cycle. More information on the topic and our achievements can be found in our annual Sustainability Report.

Our Decarbonization Program

scope 3 resource image

As we continue our journey toward a lower — carbon future, we recognize that addressing Scope 3 emissions—those generated across our value chain — is one of our most significant challenges. Taking meaningful action in this area requires accurate data, supplier collaboration, and user-friendly tools.

We are currently exploring partnerships for a new carbon accounting solution that will enable us to support our suppliers more effectively. Our aim is to provide a platform that is easy to use, minimizes the burden on suppliers, and is aligned with leading frameworks such as the GHG Protocol, CSRD, and SBTi.

Through this collaboration, we aim to:

  • Enhance data accuracy.Improve emissions tracking and transparency using streamlined digital tools.

  • Engage suppliers meaningfully.Support suppliers in sharing data and identifying carbon hotspots in the value chain.

  • Enable reduction strategies.Help suppliers use insights to set and pursue actionable Scope 3 reduction goals.

  • Improve compliance and reporting.Align with emerging regulatory standards for sustainability disclosures.

This approach will ensure that we continue to take informed, data-driven steps toward decarbonization, working closely with our suppliers to achieve impactful results for both our business and the environment.

Responsible Minerals Sourcing

We are committed to responsible sourcing and conduct due diligence to ensure that the materials we use do not contribute to conflict or human rights abuses. In line with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas, we actively engage with suppliers, customers, and industry groups to foster long-term, sustainable solutions. We also encourage smelters and refiners in our supply chain to participate in the Responsible Minerals Assurance Process (RMAP) to verify ethical sourcing practices and strengthen transparency across the mineral supply chain.
