Well-being at the forefront: hotel-like living for ski lodge employees
The employee house “Dahoam” is a harmonious oasis of appreciation
The Sheep-Alm on the Schladminger Planai in the Austria Alps is one of the largest and best-known ski huts in the region. Up to 50 employees work tirelessly in summer and winter to provide top-notch service to guests from all over the world. To show their employees real appreciation and respect, owners Heinz and Reinhard Schütter built the Schaf-Alm “Dahoam” employee house.
The house was opened after only seven months of construction in time for the start of the 2022/23 winter season. The high-quality residence boasts 49 barrier-free access rooms, including private balconies. The team lounge includes a fitness and yoga room and a large ski cellar with space for e-mountain bikes, so employees can relax and regain strength for their daily work routine.

Hotel-like living
Dahoam looks and acts like a hotel in terms of its atmosphere and access control. Since there is no reception desk in the house, the owner attached particular importance to ensuring that access and room entry is always secure and guaranteed. The efficient dormakaba hotel door lock system met these needs and was a perfect solution.
All 49 rooms, as well as the doors to back-of-house and common areas, such as the fitness room or ski cellar, were equipped with Confidant RFID fittings. Outside, three SR2 wall readers provide access to the main entrance, side entrance and trash room. The components are operated by means of a hotel key card system and will even be able to be operated with a smartphone in the future. The electronic door components have Bluetooth (BLE) technology, so they can be used with the dormakaba Mobile Access Solutions.
Ecological footprint
Dahoam also scores big in terms of sustainability. The exclusively regional construction companies used local wood such as spruce and larch for the modern timber construction. An automatic sliding door at the entrance ensures both barrier-free access and significant savings in ongoing energy and heating costs. The impressive double-leaf ST FLEX Green has an extremely slim profile, escape route function and improved thermal insulation. The new ES PROLINE drive system is characterized by its modular design, performance and longer service life. Sustainable designer furniture, bedding made of organic cotton and wood fiber, and a photovoltaic system combined with a geothermal heat pump and pellet system round off the innovative sustainability design.
